Apara/Jal Krida Ekadashi story

Apara/Jal Krida Ekadashi story in Hindi

Apara/Jalkrida Ekadashi

Yudhishthir asked : "Hey Janaardana..! which is the Ekadashi of Yyeshtha krishna paksh? I want to listen to its glory. Please let me know about it."

Lord SriKrishna said : "Hey king ! you have asked about a thing which is beneficial to all the worlds.Hey king the Ekadashi of Jyeshtha Krishna Paksh is named Aparaa Ekadashi.

It is very holy and destroys very huge sins. One who has killed the brahmins, murder of gotra, one who kills a baby inside the womb, one who criticizes others, and even a man who has illicit
relationship with other women, all are purified of their sins by this fast. One who becomes a false wtness, one who decieves people in meassurement, one who calculates the stars{fake astrologer}without knowing them, one who becomes a doctor of Ayurveda without really knowing this science,....all these creaters live in hell. But with the fast of Apara Ekadashi, all of them are purified.

If a Kshatriya{warrior cast} runs away from the battlefield, he is damned in hell, if one criticizes one's own Guru after after attainig knowlege from Guru, he is also damned in hell. But with the
keeping of the fast of Aparaa Ekadashi, all these people are saved .

In the month of maagh, when Sun is in the zodiac of capricorn, the good karma that one gets while having a bath at Prayaag,is equivalent to the keeping the fast of Shivaratri in the holy city of Kashi, doing the Pindadaan in the holy city of Gayaa ji to satiate the ancestors, when Jupitar is in the zodiac of Leo and one has a holy bath in the river Godaavari,Also having darshan of Badrinaath and Kedarnath, and in the time of solar eclipse, if one gives alms along with dakhshina of horses, elephants and gold, all these are equivalent to keeping the fast of Aparaa Ekadashi. After doing the fast and then one should worship Lord Vaamana, all his sins will be destroyed and he will attain Vaikuntha.By listening to this glory of Apara Ekadashi one gets the good, holy karma equal to giving alms of 1000 cows.

  1. Kedarnath, at a distance of 223 kms from Rishikesh, is one of the most sacred mountain shrines of Lord Shiva.
